Anyone have experience with ASUS?

Kinja'd!!!

DIMM slot A1 stopped working so I have applied for an RMA. I’m worried they’ll just say it’s my fault and I’ll have to deal with it instead of getting a working replacement. And then it’ll be a big waste of time.

Anyone know what I should do?

I had to deal with Asus a few years ago when they were recalling all the Sandy Bridge motherboards due to SATA port issues. I had no problems whatsoever.

Apart from their tele support, who are completely unintelligible, their cs is pretty bloody good. They let me return a motherboard a year out of warranty after a failed BIOS update, and any other in warranty RMA’s have gone smoothly.

Had to warranty my Nexus 7 once. They were helpful, quick and quite nice to deal with

I love their motherboard but they have one of the worst reputations in the entire industry when it comes to RMAs and customer service.

They’ll probably honor their warranty fine, but expect it to take like 3 months. Maybe you’ll be one of the lucky ones though.

If its under warranty, it should be fine. If you bent pins in the cpu socket, you would be in a world of hurt, thats generally an instant warranty void.

Yeah, I know. The pins appear to be fine when I looked at them. Hopefully it goes alright.

So you’re saying I should buy a temporary motherboard while I wait, then return it afterwards?

I can’t not game for three months.

RMA’d an ASUS motherboard a while back, no problems in the process. Only annoying since I had to pay shipping to get it to them and it took about 4 weeks to get a return.

I’ve also had wonderful experience with Gigabyte boards and doing a couple RMAs with them.

Well they said they’ll email me a prepaid shipping label, so that’s good.

Maybe I should buy a motherboard to use temporarily till I get it back, then return it once it does.

Warrantied by ASUS laptop last year. They lost it for two weeks, then sent it back unrepaired (which took another week). The second time they did actually fix it. I’ve RMA’ed a motherboard with them (probably killed with a bad BIOS flash), but that was 15 years ago, so not so relevant. The main takeaway there was that their support line recording pronounced the compnay name like hay-suus.

They took almost a month to answer a simple question I submitted on their website. Just keep that in mind.

Make sure you follow up with them constantly, know your RMA number, know your shipping tracking number, as well as the number when they return it and call them every other day. If you push them enough they’ll get it done quickly, usually.
